features to look for in a vinyl window

Have you ever wondered what features are important in vinyl replacement windows?

Well to be honest, there's a lot of really important features to consider when you're shopping for vinyl windows but you should definitely be aware of the features that you DON'T need as well! There are a ton of scam artist window manufacturers out there who design replacement and new construction windows with features and little doo-dads that absolutely do nothing but line their pockets.

Don't be tricked into paying for features on these products that you'll never need! Locking screens?

The features you definitely want to have included in your vinyl replacement windows are:

  1. tilt-in cleaning ability (keep in mind that some windows referred to as "single hungs" do NOT tilt in from the top sash, only the bottom sash will tilt in to clean.
  2. dual locks. You definitely want your window locks to be evenly spaced apart on the sash rail because single locks on double hung's can be very drafty and even make it difficult to close.
There's an awful lot of information around my site, so check around and see!

Window World Price Sheet

Here is everything you need to know about window world and their prices.
Window World is pretty well known in the window industry, in fact you probably have seen some of their ads plastered all over billboards, newspapers, and flyers.

Their big selling point? Vinyl replacement windows installed for $199.

Sounds good right? Almost too good to be true, but in fact it is true!

So how do they sell their windows for low price?

I've been in the window business since 1988 and I've seen plenty of vinyl window companies come and go, you could probably say that I've "seen it all". Window world is by far the most successful "cheap" replacement window company.

  1. Window world's basic model window is actually a brand called "alside excalibur" available through the company Alside. It's just simply rebranded as window world's own brand windows.
  2. Window worlds basic model retails for $199 for a very basic installation.
  3. Installation does not cover disposal of the windows, interior trim, or exterior trim casing.
  4. Grids between the glass, full screens, and other options are all added costs.
  5. A "complete" window installation from window world will run you about $350 per window.

check out around my blog for great information on window world and other window companies. Specifically low cost and cheap price vinyl replacement windows!
